Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Hadarin Daji, conducted a fighting patrol on January 4, 2025, in Bamamu Village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in a statement on Monday explained that during the operation, they engaged terrorists in the area, resulting in the neutralization of a notorious terrorist leader, Sani Rusu.
He also said on the 4 of January 2025, the troops of Operation Fansan Yamma during an ambush operation which was based on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State neutralized some terrorists while others sustained fatal injury.
The statement explained that the operation also led to the recovery of one AK47 rifle and one G3 rifle, alongside 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 3 magazines and 3 motorcycles.
In a separate mission, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji executed targeted airstrikes on December 30, 2024, against terrorists who had gathered between Fakai and Kware in Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
Col. Abdullahie said, the operation was based on intelligence reports indicating that a meeting was being held in the area, led by notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji.
In a follow-up operation on January 2, 2025, airstrikes were carried out in Maikaman Rini within Sububu Forest to support ground forces targeting the stronghold of terrorist leader Ibrahim Chumo.
He added, that further ground operations were launched on January 5, 2025, against Bello Turji’s camp in Chida, Shinkafi LGA, aerial reconnaissance confirmed that these operations inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, leaving several wounded and destroying their hideouts.
He emphasized that, peration Fansan Yamma remains committed to neutralizing all terrorist threats across the Joint Task Force Theatre of Operation and assures the public of its determination to maintain peace and security in the region.
