The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has achieved a remarkable milestone with the official launch of its advanced internet service, powered by a cutting-edge 70KVA Green Energy System. This initiative marks FUOYE as the first public university in Nigeria to deploy such a robust technological advancement, setting a new benchmark in higher education.
The groundbreaking project was inspected by key stakeholders, including the ICT Director, Mr. Durojaye Samson; Chairman of the FIDS Committee, Prof. Malomo; Company Representative, Engr. Tunde Oyebanjo, Mr. Emmanuel Owabor, and other team members; Mr. Teslim, PA to the Vice-Chancellor; FUOYE influencers and bloggers; as well as the Students' Union Government (SUG) representatives led by Comr. Silas Ubokobong, the Chief of Staff Nominee to the SUG President, who represented the president.
During the inspection, Comr. Silas commended the university management and its partners for their commitment to technological innovation. Prof. Malomo also praised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, for his visionary leadership and extended gratitude to the students for their cooperation in ensuring the project’s success.

The system currently accommodates 2,000 users, allowing modern smartphones to connect via FIDS Wireless BOLT (for 5G enabled devices) , while older phones utilize FIDS Wireless. Lecturers and non-teaching staff are also beneficiaries of this initiative.
This groundbreaking achievement, spearheaded by FUOYE Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abayomi Fasina in partnership with 3 Way Communications Limited and the student community, underscores FUOYE's commitment to technological advancement and academic excellence.
