The recent appointment of Dr. Kayode Opeifa as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has been met with widespread commendation, highlighting his expertise and dedication to the transformation of Nigeria’s transportation sector.
Dr. Opeifa’s appointment aligns seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, promising a significant boost to the ongoing revitalization of the country’s railway system.
In a statement issued by Comrade Zakari Gambo Babale (BALA) Secretary FCT Youth Stakeholders Forum said he is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience, Dr. Opeifa’s remarkable track record positions him as a driving force in realizing this vision.
He stated that during his tenure as Mandate Secretary for Transportation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) between 2017 and 2019, Dr. Opeifa spearheaded numerous transformative initiatives. Chief among these was the successful implementation of the FCT metro light rail project, a groundbreaking development achieved under a compressed timeline.
"His leadership also facilitated significant enhancements to the road network, street maintenance, and other critical infrastructure within the FCT.
"Beyond his technical achievements, Dr. Opeifa’s political acumen has been pivotal in advancing the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"He played a key role in ensuring the party’s victories in the FCT Area Council elections and the Presidential elections of 2019 and 2023, further cementing his reputation as an influential leader.
"His ability to inspire and engage with the youth has earned him widespread respect and admiration.
Additionally the appointment of Dr. Opeifa underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to placing competent and accomplished individuals in strategic roles.
He said, stakeholders are optimistic that his leadership will elevate the Nigerian Railway Corporation to new heights, fostering efficiency and innovation in the rail sector.
