The Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Michael Langley, visited Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
General Langley praised Nigeria's proactive and strategic approach to addressing insecurity within its borders and noted the country's leadership role in promoting stability across West Africa.
He also congratulated General Musa on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Committee of ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff.
In response, General Musa expressed gratitude for the AFRICOM Commander's visit, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to collaborate with other nations in the region to combat terrorism and organized crime.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening defence cooperation with the United States, particularly in areas of training, intelligence sharing, and streamlining the procurement of critical resources.
The AFRICOM Commander was joined at the Defence Headquarters by U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Mills.
