The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to addressing terrorism across West Africa and the African continent by extending support to the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Centre (IMCTC).
Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, made this known during a meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, led by Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi of Saudi Arabia. The meeting took place at Ship House in Abuja.
Badaru emphasized Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate closely with the IMCTC. "We are prepared to work alongside you to achieve our mutual objectives," he stated.
He highlighted the critical need for counter-terrorism efforts in West Africa and across Africa as a whole. "This region is suffering, and we stand ready to support any measures you implement. The nations in this area require substantial assistance."
Through its support of the IMCTC, Nigeria demonstrates its ongoing commitment to regional and global security, recognizing that unified efforts are essential in the fight against terrorism.
Major General Al-Moghidi expressed that the visit aimed to strengthen the existing bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, focusing on enhanced intelligence sharing and training initiatives.
