Reiterates Commitment to Bolstering Security in the Northwest

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to eradicating banditry and achieving lasting peace in the North-West region.


Speaking during a security assessment visit to Sokoto State on Friday, October 11, 2024, Dr. Matawalle acknowledged the recent successes of military operations in the region and participated in the handover of critical military equipment.


The Minister also oversaw the delivery of 10 military vehicles to the armed forces, comprising eight Buffalo trucks and two Toyota Hilux vehicles. 

Dr. Matawalle expressed his gratitude for the state's ongoing support, stating, These assets, donated by the Sokoto State Government, are intended to strengthen the operational capabilities of the military. 


"National security is a shared responsibility. The continued commitment of the Sokoto State Government is commendable.


"These vehicles will significantly enhance our troops' ability to address security challenges across the region.


The Minister received a detailed operational briefing from the Air Component of Joint Operation Hadarin Daji. He commended the precision of recent air and ground strikes that led to the elimination of several key bandit leaders. 


Additionally, Dr. Matawalle emphasized the government's resolve to continue supporting military efforts, declaring.

“Your successes reflect your professionalism and dedication. 

"The Federal Government remains committed to providing the necessary resources to sustain these victories, and we will not rest until peace is fully restored in the North West.
