The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, alongside the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alh. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, conducted an inspection of the ongoing development of the Nigerian Air Force NAF 119 Composite Group project in Sokoto State.
Dr. Matawalle expressed his admiration for the professionalism and dedication of the NAF personnel, emphasizing the crucial role the Air Force plays in protecting the country.
"The Nigerian Air Force remains pivotal in safeguarding our nation.
"The Federal Government is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure your operational effectiveness, particularly in addressing security challenges in the North-West.
He further reiterated the government's determination to enhance the capacity of NAF as part of the broader strategy to combat insecurity in the region.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto lauded the collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in tackling security issues.
"Sokoto State fully supports the efforts of the Armed Forces.
"We are dedicated to providing all the needed assistance to guarantee peace and security for our people.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continued cooperation aimed at improving security across the region.
The Governor also commended the Minister for his dedication to resolving the security challenges in the North-West, acknowledging his courage in addressing areas previously regarded as unsafe.
"The Minister has demonstrated resilience and bravery by venturing into what was once a 'no-go area' and restoring access to places long abandoned by our people.
The Honourable Minister and the Governor were briefed on the project’s progress by the Unit Commander. The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, and other senior military officials were also in attendance.
