The Minister of State for Defence Muhammad Bello Matawalle, recently visited the 8 Division Headquarters in Sokoto State, accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, and General Officer Commanding 8 Division Brigadier General IA Ajose, along with other high-ranking military officials.
The purpose of the visit was to assess ongoing military operations in the area and to direct the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji to intensify their efforts in eradicating bandits and terrorists, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive.
Dr. Matawalle emphasized President Tinubu’s strong commitment to restoring peace and security in the Northwest. He praised the troops for their dedication and resilience amidst difficult conditions, underlining the importance of their mission to safeguard lives and property.
“The President has made it clear that those who threaten our peace must be dealt with decisively.
"I am here to reaffirm the Federal Government's support and to encourage you to continue your efforts without relenting.
"Your bravery and dedication are crucial to our national security.
Dr. Matawalle also encouraged the troops to utilize the full support provided by the government and military leadership. “The Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs are with you, ensuring you have the necessary resources and strategic direction".
The Minister said the people should expect complete success in the mission, the safety of the people in Sokoto and the Northwest region relies on your effectiveness.
Additionally, Matawalle reviewed current operational strategies and discussed methods to enhance their effectiveness. He assured the troops of continued governmental support for Operation Hadarin Daji’s success.
“President Tinubu has full confidence in your ability to achieve this mission. Together, we will bring peace back to our land and ensure a safer future for all Nigerians,” he concluded.
The Minister also visited the 8 Division Medical Facilities and Hospital at Giginya Barracks in Sokoto, where he promised to provide additional equipment to boost the morale of both patients and medical staff.
