The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has expressed his deepest condolences to the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the people of Borno State following the recent flooding in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The floods have caused widespread destruction, damaging properties and displacing many residents, exacerbating the existing challenges faced by the state.

"I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the people and government of Borno State during this difficult time," the Minister said. "The flooding caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam has created significant hardship for many."

He added, "I am deeply saddened by the situation in Maiduguri, which has forced families from their homes and created untold suffering for the people of this vibrant city. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this disaster."

Minister Badaru also praised Governor Zulum's prompt response to the crisis, commending the efforts to reduce the suffering of those impacted.

"The resilience of the people of Borno is truly remarkable," he stated. "I am confident that under the Governor Zulum's leadership, Maiduguri will recover quickly from this calamity."
