Japan and ECOWAS Reinforce Partnership Ahead of TICAD 9

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Tsuji Kiyoto, recently met with Mrs. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, Vice President of the ECOWAS, who was in Japan to participate in the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting.


During the meeting, Minister Tsuji expressed his appreciation for ECOWAS's leadership in promoting economic integration across West Africa. 


In response, Mrs. Tchintchibidja conveyed her gratitude for Japan's support of ECOWAS initiatives and reaffirmed the organisation commitment to advancing economic integration, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the region.


Both leaders agreed to continue collaborating on efforts to enhance connectivity in West Africa, while also focusing on promoting peace, stability, and economic cooperation. 


Additionally, they confirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening Japan-ECOWAS relations as they prepare for the upcoming TICAD 9 next year.
