The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has called for a strategic partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
This call comes in light of the recent signing of the DICON Act into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a move aimed at fostering technological advancement in education and boosting the nation's economy.
General Musa made this appeal during a courtesy visit from the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Mr. Sonny Echono.
According to a statement released by Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the CDS emphasized the critical role education plays in human capacity development.
He highlighted that education is fundamental to the success of individuals in various influential roles and is essential for effective service delivery within the Armed Forces.
"Education is crucial for efficient service delivery in the Armed Forces," General Musa remarked, expressing appreciation for the TETFund's numerous contributions to military institutions. He further assured that the Armed Forces would continue to support educational advancements in Nigeria.
In a response, Mr. Echono commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria, under General Musa's leadership, for their selfless service to the nation.
He acknowledged the Armed Forces' ongoing support for educational institutions, particularly in maintaining an environment conducive to learning despite the security challenges facing the country.
Mr. Echono also expressed TETFund's commitment to partnering with the military and educational institutions, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, and technological development.
He praised the Armed Forces for their role in driving innovations that address critical national issues and commended the CDS for the relative peace achieved in the country thus far. Mr. Echono pledged that TETFund would continue its support for military institutions.
