The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, led the groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art 30-bed reference hospital in Bauchi. This facility is a generous donation from the Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) Initiative for Africa.
During the ceremony, the Custom Boss expressed his gratitude to the ASR Initiative, highlighting the project's importance for customs officers and the local community.
"We are delighted to receive this remarkable project. It will greatly benefit our officers and the entire community," he said.
Dr. Ubong Udoh, CEO of the ASR Initiative for Africa, praised CGC Adeniyi for attending the event and emphasized the enduring partnership between the ASR Initiative and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). "The potential of our collaborative efforts is limitless," remarked Dr. Udoh.
Hon. Tanko Dutse, representing the local community, thanked the CGC for supporting the NCS office in Bauchi. He acknowledged the positive impact of the office on local security and issues

Architect Muktar Aliyu, the project manager, assured attendees of the hospital's transformative potential. "This ultra-modern hospital signifies a commitment to healthcare and the community's future. Together, we can build a legacy of resilience and quality healthcare," he stated.
The ceremony underscores the NCS's dedication to improving the welfare of its personnel and the community, demonstrating the strong partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and the ASR Initiative for Africa.
In a separate engagement, CGC Adeniyi addressed officers at the Zone D Headquarters, Bauchi/Gombe Area Command, and Federal Operations Unit Zone D.
The Comptroller encouraged them to excel in their duties and take advantage of opportunities for intellectual growth in preparation for future challenges.
"I urge you to effectively discharge the statutory functions of the NCS and continuously improve yourselves for future challenges".
