Senator John Owan Enoh, Nigeria's Minister of Sports Development, has encouraged the nation's athletes to approach the upcoming African Championship in Cameroon as a vital preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
This call to action comes in the wake of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria's (AFN) announcement of a strong contingent of 40 athletes set to compete in Douala. The squad includes prominent names like Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, and Chidi Okezie, who are among Nigeria's elite track and field stars.
Senator Enoh underscored the importance of the African Championships as a crucial stepping stone towards Olympic success. He emphasized that this competition should be viewed as a "dress rehearsal" for Paris, serving to hone the athletes' skills and competitive edge.
"The African Athletics Championship should serve as a dress rehearsal for the Olympics," stated Senator Enoh. "I urge all our representatives to carry the green and white flag with pride and strive to secure the top position in this tournament."

"Considering your outstanding performances in Ghana, I am confident you can replicate and even exceed those achievements. You have proven yourselves at the African Games, and you have the capability to do so again."
