The Federal Government has pledged to expedite the completion of the Egbema Power Plant in Imo State.
During a recent inspection visit to the power plant, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, assured the public of swift progress. He lauded the commitment of State Governor Hope Uzodinma for his collaboration with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in advancing critical power infrastructure projects.
The Minister, accompanied by NDPHC Managing Director Chief Chiedu Ugbo, also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enacting the 2023 Electricity Act, which empowers states to participate in the electricity sector.
Adelabu highlighted Governor Uzodinma's dedication to partnering with NDPHC to hasten the completion of the Egbema power plant and related transmission projects, which will enhance electricity supply both in Imo State and across the nation.
During a meeting at the Government House, Governor Uzodinma reaffirmed his commitment to working with NDPHC to complete the power plant and improve the state's electricity supply.
The joint efforts will ensure the completion of the 378.3 MW Egbema Power Plant, the 330/33kV switchyard, the Omoku-Egbema-Owerri-Alaoji 330kV DC transmission lines, and the expansion of the Owerri transmission substation. These projects are at various stages, with the power plant currently 70 percent complete.
This collaboration between the Imo State Government and NDPHC aims to enhance electricity supply, benefiting homes and businesses throughout Imo State by completing the Egbema Power Plant and its associated transmission infrastructure.
